With the SMSF sector continuing to undergo significant change through legislation, regulatory reform and advancements in technology, it was the release of the Future of SMSF report in November 2018 that shed some important light into the challenges, opportunities and direction of service providers working within the SMSF industry. With these key insights, providing a report was never enough to better help practitioners to build a smarter SMSF future.
Therefore, after further analysis of these survey results, combined with details available through ATO statistics (and more), we are able to identify categories in which many practitioners fall into in how they support their trustee clients – identifying common challenges, ways in which service delivery operates, pricing models existing, technology used, etc.
Against a backdrop of an industry overawed with change, it’s become apparent as to the common challenges that exist and what path is required to deliver success in the future for a SMSF practice.
Hence, the concept of the five stages of an SMSF business was born…
