As we approach the end of a challenging 2020, it is with great excitement to announce the launch of the SMSF foundations course, built by Smarter SMSF to help professionals grow their SMSF knowledge.

The project started over a year ago in discussions with TOA Global Founder, Nick Sinclair about building a course to support the growing number of team members that needed technical SMSF training. From these early discussions came an idea to build a course that would focus on developing core knowledge on self-managed super funds… and so the journey began.

Not without it’s challenges throughout the year, including a lengthy lockdown period in Melbourne, the course content continue to grow, but most importantly reach important milestones to finalise before the year’s end.

Now after more than 350 slides, 50+ videos, 180+ pages of workbooks, including more than 56,000 words (and let’s not forget the 70+ assessment questions) the team is proud to launch the six module SMSF foundations course that provides 18 CPD hours upon successful completion. It’s been a massive project, but one we are immensely proud of, in particular through a period where the entire team was working from home (WFH).

The course has certainly evolved from those early discussions, but the foundations of building a high quality course focused on core knowledge of practitioners has remained unchanged.

TOA Global partnership

As part of the today’s launch, we are also pleased to announce our partnership with TOA Global, the second largest employer of offshore accountants in the Philippines, to provide the course through the TOA Global Academy, its training academy. TOA’s team members – the employees who work for TOA’s clients – will begin taking the course in early 2021.

This partnership marks a first for the outsourcing and accounting industry in the Philippines, where TOA’s team members are based, with Smarter SMSF supporting the team with the course and a series of quarterly technical updates, all part of further rollouts of training materials for TOA members is 2021.

Megan Reed, Chief People Office (CPO) of TOA Global and the TOA Global Academy, says there’s no doubt skills are the new currency for the 21st century. “In our industry in particular, this couldn’t be more true,” says Megan. “By enabling our SMSF professionals with this dedicated training and resources, we know that our team are building contemporary and critical skills that will make the biggest impact for our SMSF clients.”
