There is a growing importance in the effectiveness of SMSF pension documentation. Historically there may have been a ‘gap’ in the provision of various SMSF compliance documents, and a somewhat heavy reliance on SMSF software providers to support practitioners with these templates.
In recent times we have seen expectations of fund documentation increase by the Regulator and auditors alike to support the relevant decisions around various decisions, including the payment and management of super income streams. This greater focus on SMSF documents requires better alignment back to the fund’s governing rules, which ultimately ensures that both trustees and practitioners are managing the legal and compliance risk that comes with documenting and managing key decisions.
To understand some of these key issues, Smarter SMSF held a webinar on Friday, 25 February 2022 to explore:
- the state of play with SMSF pensions
- current issues and risks with how pension documents are created
- the current Smarter SMSF pension documents and how they link back to the Smarter SMSF deed, along with the super and tax laws,
- the suite of pension documents available through the Smarter SMSF platform.
